Uranus is 64 times larger than Earth and is mostly made up of hydrogen and helium. Its colour is due to clouds of methane crystals that float high in its atmosphere. Uranus lies on its side - the axis around which it spins is tilted by over 90 degrees. This means that each pole in sunlight for half the planet's 'year' and the other pole is in darkness.
